Why make walking sticks?

A great feeling of satisfaction is obtained when a nice walking stick is made from scratch.
It is very rewarding to go walking in the countryside and come back with some nice shanks.
You really get to see the true shapes of animals and birds when you try to carve them.
Lots of friends can be made, many of whom have years of experience to pass on .
You have an excuse to go to game and country fairs looking for antler, horn etc.
Stick making is just a great pastime that is rewarding.
